Three Internet activists missing censored code 19 stories in China

BEIJING (online) - Three Beijing-based Internet activists have gone missing after police detained them for storing censored news about the corona virus online, French news agency AFP reported on Monday. According to the report, China is facing criticism for its strategy to stop the spread of the virus and for punishing the doctor who first warned against the corona virus. Chen Mei, Kai Wei and his girlfriend have launched software development platform GitHub. According to Chen Mei's brother, the three men went missing on April 19. The operation, called Terminus 2049, saved articles that had been blocked or removed from mainland news outlets and social media as a result of China's aggressive online censorship. According to the notices received by Kai Wei and Teng's family, two of the three detainees arrested by the Shanghai District Police Office, they were charged with quarrelling and provocation and are currently under surveillance at a specific location. On the other hand, China Kun said that he was arrested by Sha Ying police regarding the detention of his 26-year-old younger brother. "I think Kai Wei and Teng were also detained when China Mei was arrested," he said. "China and Kai Wei are in the Terminus 2049 project." We suspect that his arrest was linked to the same plot. The plot involved many sensitive stories published in recent months, such as the personal statements of Wuhan citizens and Dr. Ifan of Wuhan Central Hospital. There was also a notorious interviewer who was one of the first to warn of the virus.
