WhatsApp sees 70% drop in "viral messages" forward after applying limits
Earlier this month, WhatsApp introduced a new ban that would allow WhatsApp users to send a large number of viral messages to five people at once. The WhatsApp movement aimed to curb the spread of misleading news.
The company says the move has had a big positive impact.
This has reduced the spread of viral messages by 70% in just two weeks. WhatsApp considers that any message is "forwarded" more than five times.
When WhatsApp set a limit of just five people to forward messages, the number of messages forwarded on WhatsApp had decreased by 25 %.
