Coronavirus virus changes Oscar rules for 2021
It was agreed to change the rules and regulations of the 93rd Oscar Awards for 2021 for one year due to corona virus to merge the sound mixing and sound editing categories for the Oscars.
According to American media, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has traditionally considered that only movies that have been screened in Los Angeles theaters for at least seven days are eligible for the Oscars, but because of the coronavirus. The Oscars for 2021 will also include movies that have not been released in theaters.
It should be noted that the announcement made by the academy on Tuesday said that films that were already scheduled to be shown in theaters and are now available for commercial broadcast will also be eligible for the 93 awards to be held next year. Academy President David Robin and CEO Dan Hudson say the new law is a temporary exemption. The year will be February 28 as scheduled.
